Silkroad Deletion[edit]

The article Silkroad Online has been deleted for apparently not being significant, well i have asked the user who deleted it a question but i doubt he knows much about MMORPG's and wont understand what i am saying. This is what i posted.

Why did you delete the article on Silkroad Online, it was very informative and MUST be restored. It is deffinetely significant as it is one of the most played (around 10th) online game on the internet. (according to Xfire it is played for 1 and a half million hours a day by only 5000 people registered with xfire yet there is atleast 5x the ammount of that number playing on the international erver at any given time, with the korean and japanese version being even more played leading me to believe it is played more then World Of Warcraft

As you can see it is very popular and infact was a huge article which has been around a while. I remember reading it over a year ago and it had alot of the things it had before. How do i go about getting the article restored, sorry im not that much of an active wikipedian so i dont no too much Brent01 (talk) 10:59, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The claim you made that the Hillaryland stub was unverified and unsourced is blatantly inaccurate. I sourced the original stub with a link to the Washington Post, the preeminent political news organization in the US. If that is unsourced, then tell me what is. Your labelling struck me as arbitrary and spurious. --TallulahBelle 17:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, please remember to assume good faith on the part of other editors - your enquiry is unnecessarily hostile in tone. I don't think that you mean this but words on a page can be interpreted in more than one way. Hmmm, I see the problem. You have supplied an external link but not placed it within the framework for inline references, so it doesn't display in the prescribed manner. Have you seen Wikipedia:Footnotes at all? This demonstrates the correct manner for applying <reference> tags. Wikipedia:Citing sources is also useful. I will either make the necessary changes to the article when I return at 2100 UTC or look and see what you have done in the interim. Regards, (aeropagitica) 17:38, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who died and made you Emily Post?--TallulahBelle 18:09, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I imagine that this is an American pop culture reference that is lost on me. I'll sort the article out now, if it hasn't already been done. (aeropagitica) 21:07, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reference is now correctly cited. (aeropagitica) 21:30, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My irritation towards you is founded on two factors: One, your double standard which verges on the hypocritical, and two, your tone and manner, which is portentous to the point of pompous.
Regarding the first issue: You present yourself as a stickler for detail and correct usage. Yet your failure to note a perfectly legitimate and clear reference to the Washington Post in the stub leads me to believe that you are only trying to give the appearance of thorough conscientiousness. Were you actually conscientious and detail-oriented, you would have easily noted the reference. If you had been unsatisfied with its form, you could have corrected it in your first edit. Yet in your first edit to the stub, you chose to place spurious labels on it, labels that serve no other purpose that to disqualify its veracity, rather than correcting what you claim was erroneous referencing.
Hence I don't believe you are actually conscientious or concerned about the veracity of Wikipedia articles. From your actions, I infer that you're interested in merely seeming to be so.
Second, your tone and manner: Admittedly, a pompous and portentous prose style isn't something that can be changed as easily as, say, a bad hair style. It's a reflection of your personality, after all. 'Nuff said.
Finally, the Emily Post reference isn't exactly pop culture—it's general culture. Again, it's something which a lack of genuine conscientiousness would prevent someone from finding out.

Why do we have to keep unsourced spam on the strength of a 2/1 vote? I deleted this on sight, but restored when I read the talk page. Jimfbleak 06:01, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's nothing to prevent you from relisting this article on the AfD pages. If you have a business case for its deletion then please state it there. Regards, (aeropagitica) 16:07, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baltimore City College WikiProject[edit]

Hello I wanted to know if you could help me with a severe article problem with Baltimore City College. The members of their wikiproject keep reverting edits and monopolizing the entire article, including whats said in the article. there are a lot of POV statements that can't be changed because no administrators have intervened yet. If you look at the backlog, only two or three editor have made the last couple hundred edits, and they keep shutting other editors, like me, out. Your help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.Thx2005 14:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am messaging you about the recreation (I believe for the fifth time) of the article Circus metal. I have seen you have participated in a previous AfD procedure for the article, and I would think you would be interested to give your opinion in the most recent one. Thanks in advance.

Question regarding linkspam[edit]

In a case where a user has added similar linkspam to a great many articles (e.g., [1]), is there a way to remove them all, without going through each article and simply hitting undo? I have gone through roughly half the articles on his contributions list, and have already left him a warning, but this is growing tedious. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have. Cheers! ---TheoldanarchistComhrá 17:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know of an autotool that would assist with this task, unfortunately. When I have dealt with similar cases I have had to keep the vandal's contributions page open in one tab and open each instance of offending linkspam in other tabs for rollback purposes. A little time-consuming to be sure. Perhaps someone else knows of such a tool? If you discover one then please do tell me! I have a feeling that its use may be reserved because of the possibilities of mass vandalism if it fell in to the wrong hands. Regards, (aeropagitica) 20:33, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, makes sense. I am wrapped up in something else at the moment, but I will get back to deleting all that rubbish later. Thanks for your response. ---TheoldanarchistComhrá 20:45, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Marijuana Logues Script[edit]

I wanted to know if it was OK for me to add to the content of Wikipedia's current Marijuana Logues page by adding the script. I don't know if there are copy write policies in place... So basically I didn't want to figure out if I could and I just wanted a yes or no from someone with an informed opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.32.32.211 (talkcontribs)

All contributions to Wikipedia projects are governed by the GFDL licence. This means that every edit you make is given to the Wikimedia foundation and is no longer your property. If you want to post the creative work of other people then you need their express written permission that they acknowledge that the work now belongs to Wikipedia. Most people won't want to do this, so I would advise against cutting-and-pasting the work of others against their wishes. Read the help pages for more details. Fair use disputed for Image:STByAnyOtherName.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:STByAnyOtherName.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signature[edit]

I would like to know how to change the color in my signature. I went to the signature page on Wikipedia but it did not do a good job of giving step by step instructions. I was wondering if you knew. Also, it said you need to be registered. Are being a user and being registered the same thing? Thank you, Libertyville 14:46, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Being a user and being registered are not the same thing, as the English Wikipedia currently accepts contributions from anonymous IP editors. You are registered as you have set up an account with a username to which your contributions are attributed. Changing your signature is not a difficult thing to do. Before I say anything else, I would encourage you to keep the code down to the bare minimum required, as often people create pretty signatures that take up three or more lines of code. This is very awkward to read through when contributing to a Talk page or a Policy page discussion.
The code for my signature looks like this: [[User talk:(aeropagitica)|(aeropagitica)]] - very simple indeed. If I want to change the colour of said signature, I would add a hex value to the signature like this: [[User:(aeropagitica)|<span style="color:#080080">(aeropagitica)</span>]] which looks like this: (aeropagitica). The list of web colors is available at Web colors and you can experiment using the 'Show preview' button to minimise the number of edits you make. You can also create a user sub-page to do this. Please remember to keep the code string down to the bare minimum for the comfort and convenience of other editors! Regards, (aeropagitica) 07:07, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. - Libertyville | Talk 01:56, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion? wtf?[edit]

I made a page for both Trace Cyrus and Mason Musso. i dont understand why they were deleted. They are huge and they are in a band called Metro Station for whom I also created a page for. They have a cd out in September and their own myspace and purevolume pages. This all seems so stupid. And Trace is Miley Cyrus' brother. And Mason is Mitchell Musso's brother. It seems everyone on here is out of the loop so I'll clue you in. They are on Disney Channel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LMSKICKS (talkcontribs)

Your explanation means nothing to me, sorry. If you have a request for a deleted page to be ressurected then please take it to Wikipedia:Deletion review along with your business case. I'd recommend explaining yourself in the clearest possible terms, as referring to one musician of which I know nothing in defence of a deleted article on another musician of which I know nothing is not a sound basis for argument. Where possible, articles should be sourced and those sources should be cited according to the guidelines. If you have an idea for an article but haven't gathered your sources together then it is best to place your ideas in a personal sandbox for revision before publication in the main article space. Lastly, please don't forget to sign your Talk page comments with four tildes, ~~~~, as this makes it far easier to contact you when you leave comments. About the Copyrights[edit]

i want to ask that can i upload an image of a sportsman taken from TV?--Adeelbutt88 talk 16:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would take a look at Wikipedia:Image use policy and also ask your question at the Village Pump where someone better qualified than me in dealing with images will be able to assist. My impression is that the broadcaster of the image that you have captured would own the copyright and unless they have given you express permission to upload it to Wikipedia or Commons then its use on this project would not be advisable. Someone else will be able to give you a more thorough explanation of image usage, though. Regards, (aeropagitica) 17:39, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted deletion debate[edit]

Hi. How's everything? A while back you deleted Talk:Pro-American sentiment under G8 after closing the afd. The talk page, however, was an archived deletion debate of an earlier "votes for deletion" (VfD) debate. See Wikipedia:Archived delete debates/May to Jun 2004, where this page is listed, now red-linked. This comes up as a result of this post at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion. Always a glutton for tedious research, I am going through the many red-linked pages and notifying the deleting admins. Can you restore the page? Thanks.--Fuhghettaboutit 02:20, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's nothing there to say that anything on the Talk page has been preserved as a result of an earlier debate and should be retained rather than deleted. Can you adjust that omission once I recreate the Talk page, please. It seems strange to see a Talk page with no associated article; it leaves open the possibility that another admin will delete it as a G8 case too. Shared IP's[edit]

I noticed that you had blocked 63.3.1.129 from editing wikipedia on May 20, 2007. If you are interested in whether the shared IP makes a difference as far as vandalism goes, you might look at the edits that were made with the other IP numbers this person uses. 63.3.69.136 - 63.3.69.133 - 63.3.69.6 - 63.3.1.1 You will see that he/she edits Linda Ronstadt frequently from each IP address, and has made numerous vandalizing edits from each of the IP addresses listed. I don't know if this makes a difference, but hopefully it will shed a bit of light on this problem. I'm not trying to start any trouble... Just merely pointing out the obvious. Let me know what you think... --Candy156sweet 03:49, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Bluejam.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bluejam.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:46, 29 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:46, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reference link[edit]

How do we make it so that the text we wrote can link to the reference spot witht he little number on top?--Rws killer2 16:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC) Also, how do we import an image?--Rws killer2 17:06, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First question; you need to read Wikipedia:References to understand the different styles of referencing that are permitted on this Wikipedia.
Second question; you need to read Wikipedia:Uploading images. When you have read this, click on 'Upload file' on the bottom of the menu on the left-hand side of the page and follow the instructions. I would also consider uploading images to Commons in order that they can be shared amongst the other Wikimedia projects with the same GFDL licence rather than uploading the same image to each database separately. Sinai 48[edit]

I just placed a coi tag on Sinai 48 since it seems to have been created by one of the band members. However looking at the history (it's been here several months) I'm wondering if the tag was unnecessary. Should it be there or no? -WarthogDemon 23:16, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would be tempted to mark it {{db-band}} from looking at the sentence; "Sinai 48 first formed in 2006 and have recorded one album to date that is expected to be released in the Spring of 2007." If not that then maybe an AfD. There would also be a conflict of interest if the band members were writing about the band. If they are notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia then there will be contributors to said article other than themselves. (aeropagitica) 23:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Consider it afdified. -WarthogDemon 23:24, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There might be an issue in that the band has notable members such as Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac but their lack of album releases makes this an equivocal matter for me, so the AfD will clear up the consensus viewpoint. (aeropagitica) 23:30, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should I add them too? I already added Tom Moncrieff unless I should take him off. -WarthogDemon 23:32, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't put either Buckingham or Fleetwood Mac up for AfD as they are both notable entities under WP:Music and WP:BIO. Buckingham's band is equivocal as he is notable but the band hasn't released anything of note. Buckingham himself in unequivocal in my opinion, referring to the above criteria. Page move question[edit]

As the subject tag indicates, I have a question about a page move. This article Rider ericsson was just created within the last 10 minutes or so, but it has been titled incorrectly. The name of the company is Rider-Ericsson, with the hyphen and a capital e on Ericsson. I was going to move the page to Rider-Ericsson and be done with it, but wondered if Rider-Ericsson Engine Company might not be more appropriate. Any thoughts? What is the standard on Wikipedia, 'cause I simply do not know. Thanks for your time. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 04:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't mean to bother you, but can you monitor or block indef this user that has been inactive since 2006? Thanks! $my money$ 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I need to bring up User:InventDa behavior. I've posted a query on both his talk page, but received no reply. I've posted to ANI [2], and was told not to worry. He posted a message on the talk page for User Talk:Star500 asking that the user respond by October 18, and within five minutes, decided that he waited long enough [3]. I'm not sure what the precedent for demanding that inactive accounts be closed, but I find User:InventDa to be heavy-handed and bordering on uncivil in their actions Yngvarr (t) (c) 18:24, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I should totally think this user (InventDa) has to be blocked for vandalizm to Wikipedia? Do you think so? @Wikipedian@ 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Inactive accounts are not deleted. Admins don't have the power to do this anyway. There is no requirement or precedent for indef-blocking someone who hasn't breached the vandal guidelines or been active for more than a year. Uncivil comments are not in themselves a reason for blocking editing rights to Wikipedia. They may be grounds for a warning about behaving properly and respectfully towards other editors and admins, however. Each case is judged on its own merits. (aeropagitica) 21:49, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, i'm talking about InventDa being blocked, not the inactive user. @Wikipedian@ 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, InventDa's signature is a little misleading, as it's not his name . He's the original poster in this thread. When I saw his edits, and then saw him posting here, I figured I'd try to talk to you, so I posted about InventDa directly below. His actions makes me raise an eyebrow. I'm not necessarily talking about blocking, but someone should speak with this user. I've tried, but he (?) basically ignored my message, and doesn't seem interested in dialogue. ((and there's some spacing issues on this thread, too, which I'll deal with, for clarity, as I don't think that is considered bad form) Yngvarr (t) (c) 23:24, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, this is a little confusing but from the looks of the diffs provided then this InventDa editor could do with some user education. Perhaps a mentor or to allow himself to be adopted. That won't be more, more's the pity, as I currently have an ongoing off-wikipedia project that takes too much of my screen time away from this project. I was quickly wondering why the page Bears-Vikings Rivalry doesn't show up on the results even when I type in the exact name. I have to link to it on another page. If I type in the words "Bears-Vikings Rivalry" in the search then it should come up, or at least show on the search results. Thanks, 76.239.6.39 (talk) 02:44, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recently the Glosa page was recognised as violating copyright laws. Since then it has been modified and a temp page has been created. Could you please move the temp page to become the new article and get rid of the notice? It detracts from the usefulness of the article (I think it discourages from the appeal if the reader might not want to actually read it), so the sooner it is removed, the better. Thank you.  :) 98.27.171.83 (talk) 04:53, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Fall to pieces single.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fall to pieces single.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:47, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shuttlepod One[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Shuttlepod One, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Shuttlepod One. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Clarence dvd.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Clarence dvd.jpg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:25, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IP address[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but I have a problem. I work in it.wiki daily, and sometimes I use to edit some pages (usually manga/anime related) without problems. Anyway, when I saw my edit page for the first time I notice that there were edits I didn't make. I know it's a common problem, but I got warned for things I didn't do. Now, here is my question: if I create an account will I solve this problem? I don't know a lot about IP address and technical stuff like this. I don't want to create an account if people using the same IP address as me will keep editing pages, because people will probably think that's me working offline. Thank you for your time and sorry (again) to bother you. --85.18.136.105 (talk) 20:26, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, creating an account will save you from receiving warnings left at a common logon IP address that were left for other anonymous users. It is worth creating an account for auditing purposes and for recognition of your contributions to the project. Regards, (aeropagitica) 17:08, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal[edit]

Hello, I am a good faith contributor to Wikipedia and recently I ran across a familiar face. User:Iznican was a bad faith user on two Wikia Wikis I contribute to, and he was a vandal and has since been banned indefinitely on both. Recently he came across Wikipedia and he has already started vandalizing pages by adding fan fiction to lists on Wikipedia and by making a personal attack directed at me; see this for proof, where he calls me a beaner since I was the administrator who banned him. Therefore I am just letting you know that he is bad news and is not a good user, and he should not make personal attacks, although he already has made (a racist one) towards me. Fair use rationale for Image:The_magnificent_evans_dvd.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The_magnificent_evans_dvd.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion of Crab Smasher[edit]

A tag has been placed on Crab Smasher, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Speedy deletion of Magic Time Machine[edit]

A tag has been placed on Magic Time Machine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

I would like to thank you for being the first person to shatter my illusions about Wikipedia, or rather the small minds of the people that run it.

In June 1996 you deleted jad (decompiler) (JAD (JAva Decompiler) is still there), but failed to give a reasoned explanation or discuss. You are not alone, Least distance of distinct vision was proposed deleted in 1997, OMA Device Management and 16:10 in 1998. In my humble opinion deleting knowledge is a crime, a symptom of a system past its prime.

Please will you try and encourage the people managing Wikipedia to come up with constructive contributions to build up the confidence of contributors in your own abilities. Saying 'no' or refusing to explain why achieves the opposite.

Approval from your peers means nothing if those who support you (the contributors) remain disappointed. Remember Bush was liked by his friends, but Obama is a man of the people and is the greater of the two as a result.

page protection[edit]

Hello my name is Duncan Edwards one of the pages that i have created has been deleted numerous times. it has been marked as vandalism and such of the sort. It is not. The article is on Coffeeism it is a starting religion. The religion started almost a year ago but I have just started making it public. The Coffeeist religion has a website at www.coffeeism.webs.com, I started putting the information about the religion on Wikipedia about a month ago but it keeps being deleted for no reason. i would like you or one of the other adminastrators to make my article safe from deletion. Coffeeism (talk) 15:45, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Duncan Edwards[reply]

You really do need to read Wikipedia:Your first article. A religion that you are attempting to start yourself shows an entirely subjective bias for a start. To have an article survive on Wikipedia, it needs to be about a subject that is notable, well-referenced and with reliable sources. If your article is missing any of these then it will more-than-likely be recommended for deletion. Notability as a quality may not be conferred upon a subject by its creator. It is usually generated by the interest that others take in a person, process, event, item, phenomenon, etc. If your religion becomes established and is written up in sociological texts or comparative religion journals then it may be deemed notable. Even then, as the creator I would stay away from Wikipedia and let others create the article. (aeropagitica) 01:01, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

why?[edit]

greetings,

i think you misunderstood me. i didnt ask for you to delete my userpage??? why? that is my user page for wiki, not my bio page as celebrity. look, my http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Joaoleitao is not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joaoleitao (THIS ONE I CLICKED BY MISTAKE)... so one is use wiki page where i present myself as portuguese wikipedian contributer (USER PAGE NOT TO BE DELETED) and the other one is a wiki page as if im a celebrity or something (YES DELETE). so, you just deleted the wrong page. i mean have you read my user page? i think you misunderstood me or probably you didnt understand the concept of wiki userpage which i dont think you did.

please, my user page back... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joaoleitao (talkcontribs) 18:54, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 20:40, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Enemies of Ahmadiyya are doing personal attacks on the personality of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. The parties of Seal of Prophets are doing these personal attacks and I want that the world should know how much love Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had for Muhammad. This article is an information that everyone should see that how much he had love for Muhammad in his writings. No one had such love in the 19th and 20th century.--TZX Master (talk) 13:16, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for the permission to start new topic[edit]

I would like to start the topic on "แพรนด์ทอล นัมเบอร์" which is about Prandtl number for Thai people. It would be nice, if you, as an admin, can grant me the permission to start this topic.

Blocking of several users[edit]

Blocking of User:Sensei 0208, User:Sensei 2105 and User:Shihan 883 was not right. I know those people personaly. It's a family of 3 people, which uses one computer. They all have interest in martial arts (as do I and many other people) and we are working together on different articles in many languages. That's ridiculuos that we can't work together in enwiki only. Can you please unblock them? Yakudza19 (talk) 22:36, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A question about rules of userboxes in Wiki[edit]

Hi dear adminstrator, I am a user in Persian Wiki and I have an on going discussion with a Persian adminstrator about the userboxes we can create or not in Wiki. The question is: Is making userboxes like: "This user supports independence of Tibet from China" or "This user supports independence of Azerbaijan from Iran" or "This user is against Hizbullah terorist group." illegal according to Wiki userbox rules or not? R these rules same in all Wikis or different from one Wiki to another? I'm waiting 4 ur answer a.s.a.p. Regards, Pournick (talk) 04:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Admin Coaching: Reconfirmation[edit]

I was looking through the coaches at Wikipedia:Admin_coaching/Status and saw that there are a lot under "reconfirmation".

Could you let me know if you are still interesting in being involved with Admin Coaching, or if you would prefer to have your name removed from the "reconfirmation" list. If you want to be involved, could you please move your entry from "Reconfirmation" to "Active" and indicate how many students you would be willing to have (obviously, if you are actively coaching at the moment, then please indicate this!)

If I do not hear from you within a week, I will assume that you would like to have your name removed from the list of coaches.

Hello! I thought that I had taken my name off of the active list some time ago. If not them please do so now, as my current workload means that I cannot give sufficient time to students. Regards, (aeropagitica) 23:23, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Survey on quality control policies[edit]

As part of a project funded by the European Commission (QLectives), we are collecting and analysing data to study quality control mechanisms and inclusion/deletion policies in Wikipedia. According to our records, you participated in a large number of AfD. We are currently soliciting editors with a long record of participation in AfD discussions to send us their feedback via a very informal survey.

The survey takes less than 5 minutes and is available at this URL. Should you have any questions about this project, feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for your help! --DarTar (talk) 10:40, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Nichols[edit]

Dear aeropagitica -

I recently nominated an article for deletion Dan Nichols - but when attempting to create a discussion page I found that there was already a discussion page archived and it was noted that no further edits should be made to the archived discussion page. Since I see you have previously edited the discussion I wanted to ask your advice on what the next step should be? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Etrangere (talk) 18:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In that case the AfD would be entitled 'Dan Nicholls (2nd nomination). The case for deletion needs to take in to account the reasons for the first deletion - is this person notable and are the citations for notability from authoritative sources? If you have evidence to build such a case then go ahead and nominate for discussion. (aeropagitica) 10:17, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the insight. I suppose my next question is: How do I nominate for discussion? I've placed the nomination for deletion tag above the article. Is there something else that I need to do?

Thanks again.

Picture Upload Question[edit]

Could I get permission to upload a picture taken by me in CFR Cluj page, the old one is outdated.

Thanks, Lupu_dac Lupul dac (talk) 21:52, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you haven't already, please read through Wikipedia:Uploading images in order to understand the guidelines and procedures for uploading your own work on to Wikipedia/Wikicommons. If it is your own work then you need to assert this and that you have given up your copyright on the image. If it is not your own work then you need to demonstrate that the creator has given their permission for the image to be used. (aeropagitica) 10:43, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
