1 January – Barbara Laister-Ebner performs the zither solo in Tales from the Vienna Woods at the 2018 Vienna New Year's Concert, the first female zither player to do so in the history of the concert. Laister-Ebner also performed with the Vienna Philharmonic in the 30 December 2017 and 31 December 2017 performances of the same programme.[1]
