The 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will be the 13th edition of Women's Cricket World Cup. It is scheduled to be hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and India.[1] It is India's fourth time hosting the women's World Cup, after the 1978, 1997, and 2013 editions, and Sri Lanka's first time hosting the event. This will be the last time that the tournament will have eight teams.[2] Australia are the defending champions, having won their seventh title in 2022. In June 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the tournament will take place from 30 September to 2 November 2025.[3]

Background

Neutral venue arrangements

[edit]

On 19 December 2024, following an agreement between BCCI and PCB, the ICC, in an update issued on India and Pakistan hosted matches at ICC events, confirmed that India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC events in 2024–2027 will be played at neutral venues.[4]

It was originally announced that the tournament would take place in five different venues across India; Indore, Thiruvananthapuram, Nava Raipur, Mullanpur and Vishakhapatnam,[5] with Mullanpur scheduled to host the final.[6] With the Women's World Cup coinciding with the men's domestic fixtures, the BCCI had selected five venues for the tournament, prioritising favourable weather conditions and efficient logistical arrangements.[7]

Moreover, after Pakistan's qualification for the World Cup, their matches will be played outside India at a neutral venue.[8]

In June 2025, ICC announced the final venues in India and Sri Lanka, for the World Cup.[3] The tournament will be played in hybrid model. The venues are Bengaluru, Guwahati, Indore and Visakhapatnam in India, and Colombo in Sri Lanka.[9]

Warm-up matches

[edit]

Before the World Cup, the participating nations will compete in nine warm-up matches, which will be played from 25 to 28 September 2025. These matches will not have either Women's One Day International (WODI) status or List A status. In July 2025, ICC announced the schedule for the warm-up matches.[10]
