Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 (known as Cabela's Dangerous Adventures in the PAL region) is a hunting video game published by Activision for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 game consoles. It was released in the United States on September 23, 2008.
Plot
Hunter Flint Abrahams is hunting red deer in Russia with his friend and mentor Sergei. The two are attacked by a brown bear and Sergei dies. After Flint manages to fight off the bear, he decides to hunt dangerous and large game.
Flint travels to Tanzania to hunt lions with his friend Henry Tally. Henry makes a bet with Flint that he will take down a bigger lion. After some lions are lured with impala meat and some spotted hyenas are killed, the lions attack Henry's camp. Some workers are building a bridge there and Flint protects them. He eventually kills all the lions and is thanked by Henry.
Flint then heads to Alaska and talks to a ranger about taking down a brown bear. After Flint defeats a number of wolves and fends off an attack by a moose, he finds a brown bear with the help of another ranger. When he tries to take down the bear, an avalanche occurs. Unfortunately, the ranger was in the wrong place and is swept away by the avalanche. Flint goes in search of the ranger and is forced to kill a mountain lion. Eventually, he finds the ranger buried under the snow and the bear wandering around the remains of a small cabin. Flint kills the bear and rescues the ranger.
Flint's journey continues towards Ecuador, in search of a jaguar. While Flint is hunting, a plane crashes nearby, which scares the jaguar away. After Flint kills a black caiman, he rescues a woman from the burning wreckage of the plane. She tells him that her husband Rodrigo is still somewhere in the jungle. Flint gives her his handgun and goes in search of Rodrigo. During this search, he kills a python and has to lure away piranhas with the meat of a capybara. He finds Rodrigo and sees that he is almost attacked by a jaguar. Flint kills the jaguar and saves Rodrigo's life.
The journey then takes him to India, where a number of striped hyenas have to be taken down, as there are too many of them and many cattle and children are being attacked. During this job he comes across some forest rangers who are moving tigers. He travels along on one of these trucks. During the journey, boulders fall on a truck and four tigers escape. Flint takes them down with a tranquilizer gun and brings them back safely.
The next location is British Columbia where Flint goes in search of cougars. He lures a cougar with meat and kills it. He then travels with Henry Tally and Daniel Heath towards Congo to hunt for Cape buffalo. During their journey they have to fend off Nile crocodiles and hippos on a river. After fighting giant forest hogs and snakes, Flint manages to take down a Cape buffalo. However, he immediately discovers that Henry and Daniel are stuck up in trees with a large herd of buffalo at the bottom. Flint chases the buffalo away and frees his friends.
Next, Flint heads to Thailand where he has to tranquilize Asian black bears to put their transmitters on them. During this job, he has to kill a leopard and sneak around a herd of elephants.
The next destination is Namibia, where Flint goes on a guided leopard hunt with Dominic Rousseau. Dominic is injured by a leopard after which Flint carries him towards their truck. However, the truck is attacked by a white rhino. Flint kills the rhino and goes in search of help. Flint has to chase away a number of savannah elephants and kill a scar-faced leopard, before he finally arrives at a village.
Finally, Flint returns to Russia to hunt wolves with Sergei's son Yuri. Some wolves escape into the forest, where Yuri's car cannot reach. Flint insists on going in alone. He hunts wild boars to lure the wolves back. After the last of the group of wolves is killed, a bear ambushes Flint. Flint grabs a piece of wood and impales the charging bear with it. Yuri arrives soon after, and Flint confirms it to be the same animal that killed Sergei.
