Summary
| Description | English: The Bhagavad Gita is the most popular scripture of Hinduism. It is a 700-verse Sanskrit text that is a part of the Hindu epic Mahabharata (chapters 23–40 of Bhishma Parva). Scholars variously date it between the 5th century BCE to the 2nd century BCE. Gerald James Larson – an Indologist and classical Hindu Philosophies scholar, states "if there is any one text that comes near to embodying the totality of what it is to be a Hindu, it would be the Bhagavad Gita". The above photo is of a manuscript copied on paper c. 1800 CE, and is now MS 2099 of the Schoyen Collection, near Oslo, Norway. It is written in classical Sanskrit on paper, Devanagari script. This is a photograph of a two-dimensional manuscript copied in early 19th-century from a much older text. Therefore and PD-Art and PD-US-expired guidelines of wikimedia commons apply. Les spécialistes le datent diversement entre le 5e siècle avant notre ère et le 2e siècle avant notre ère.
