English: Mdewakanton Dakota chief Shakopee III (Shakpe), also known as "Little Six," prior to execution for his role in the Dakota War of 1862. The carte-de-visite states, "Sioux Chief, Engaged in Massacre of 1862, boasts of having killed 13 women and children." Photographed at Fort Snelling on June 17, 1864, where he would be executed on November 11, 1865.
