Summary

Description
English: Watercolor reproduction of the 1461 painting at Nunraw (White Castle) armorial, showing the "King of Egypt" shield with three adders. MacRitchie argues that this may be a representation of a Romani chieftain in Scotland, perhaps a direct ancestor of John Faa, styled "King of the Gypsies". See "Reviews. Handarbeiten der ungarischen Zeltzigeuner", in Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society, Vol. III, Issue 3, January 1892, pp. 178–181, and Scottish Gypsies under the Stewarts, pp. 27–28. Edinburgh: David Douglas, 1894.

Public domain

The author died in 1925, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 95 years or fewer.

You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. Note that Mexico has a term of 100 years and does not implement the rule of the shorter term, so this image may not be in the public domain in Mexico.
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
