Marquis de Boishébert — Charles Deschamps de Boishébert et de Raffetot (1727–1797)
Object type painting

Description
The Marquis de Boishébert was born in Quebec and a successful military man. He was made a knight of the Order of Saint Louis in 1758. The painting's cross of that Order was added after the painting was executed by an unknown French artist in Quebec. McCord Museum's examination of the painting under ultra-violet light reveals that area to be overpainted, thus putting the painting's origin before 1758.[1]
