High and Low is an upcoming American crime thriller film directed by Spike Lee. It is an English-language remake of the 1963 Japanese film High and Low, which itself is loosely based on the 1959 novel King's Ransom by Ed McBain (Evan Hunter). The film stars Denzel Washington, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, and Ice Spice.

High and Low is scheduled to be released by A24 for Apple TV+.

Cast[edit]

Announced in February 2024, the film was developed and produced by A24, Escape Artists and Mandalay Pictures, and has a script written by Alan Fox and Spike Lee. Lee directs, and the film is produced by Todd Black for Escape Artists and Jason Michael Berman for Mandalay Pictures. Spike Lee is also an executive producer through his 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks.^[1]

Denzel Washington was cast in February 2024.^[2] Ilfenesh Hadera and Jeffrey Wright joined the cast in March 2024.^[3]^[4] Ice Spice joined the cast in April 2024.^[5]

Principal photography began on March 4, 2024 in New York City, with Matthew Libatique serving as the cinematographer.^[6]

The film is set to be released theatrically by A24 before it is available to stream on Apple TV+.^[7]
