Tali Golergant (Hebrew: טלי גולרגנט; born 26 November 2000),[1] known mononymously as Tali, is an Israeli-born Luxembourgish singer, songwriter, actress and vocal coach. She is set to represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song "Fighter".[2]
Early and personal life[edit]
Golergant was born in Israel to a Peruvian Jewish father and an Israeli mother. Following her father's work, she moved with her family across Chile, Argentina and other countries, until finally settling in Limpertsberg, Luxembourg, where she resided for ten years.[1][3] She began playing the piano at the age of 7, and began singing, songwriting and acting in theatre at the age of 12.[4] She was educated at the International School of Luxembourg, before moving to New York City to study musical theatre at Marymount Manhattan College.[5] She lives there as of January 2024[update].[6]
Golergant is fluent in English, Hebrew and Spanish, and is able to communicate in French and German.[7][8]
Career[edit]
Golergant released her debut single at the age of 16, followed in 2021 by her debut EP Lose You. Along with her own band, she toured local New York venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Arlene's Grocery, and Delancey Street. In addition, Golergant pursued a career as a stage actress, portraying Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, Sue Snell in Carrie, and Éponine in Les Misérables, among others; she has also starred in the independent short film Agua.[6][9][10]
In December 2023, Golergant was revealed as one of the eight finalists of the Luxembourg Song Contest, the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.[11] It was later revealed on 9 January 2024 that she would perform the song "Fighter".[12] She went on to win the selection, earning the right to be the first representative for the country at the contest since 1993.[10]
Artistry[edit]
Golergant describes her music as a blend of pop, indie and R&B. She cites Lizzy McAlpine, Sara Bareilles and Lady Gaga among her influences.[9]
