Untitled[edit]

I removed the non-state capitals from this nav box, as purpose of the nav box is clear from the title. It is not capitals of U.S. political divisions or anything else other than state capitals. I mean, some of the supposed capitals of Indian Reservations that were linked to did not even contain any indication that the place was the capital of anything. olderwiser 22:04, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)

The title of the template doesn't have to be an accurate description! After all, no one reading the Albany, New York knows the title of the template — and that's who the template is for. I wish to revert, but let's see if we can get a (near-)consensus....msh210 22:37, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
And if the title should be as accurate as possible, then we can always move it. I do believe that Navajo Nation and the outlying areas (Guam, American Samoa, NMI, PR, USVI) are important enough — and their capitals are important enough — to be linked to from other capital's pages. Thoughts?msh210 22:44, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I disagree. Not that these places or their capitals are unimportant, but that they are of a fundamentally different class than the states. I mean, if you really want to know, I actually disagree with having a template for state capitals at all -- that could be better accomplished as a category without using up valuable screen real estate with marginally related information. I consider including the capitals of non-states to be even more marginally useful and a waste of space. olderwiser 22:53, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)

City names[edit]

Prior to today the city names were not included in this template. I just made that change in good faith. Hopefully there are no problems with this change. It just made sense to me. Hopefully all the postal abbreviations are correct as well. Dincher 21:05, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Per-article styling[edit]

I don't think we need per-article styling. the entire purpose of coloring a navbox is to identify it with the content. in this case, the content is about the entire US, so it would be inappropriate to color it say the color of California. thank you.
