Better source request for File:Stars Dance Tour.jpg[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:06, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of The Voice of Greece finalists (season 1), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Because of You (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Assessment request of Ivi Adamou[edit]

Hello Dimitris,

Thank you for submitting an WikiProject Eurovision assessment request on the article Ivi Adamou. I will now check the article against the project's quality assessment scale criteria to see if the article may require its quality rating increased. I shall notify you of the outcome in due course. Regards, Wes Mᴥuse 18:00, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have assessed the article for you, and increased its quality rating to C-class. There are a few areas that still require some improvements in order for it to satisfy B-classification. Once those improvements have been made, then we can review the quality again. Regards, Wes Mᴥuse 18:55, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the assassment. I guess I'll need a peer review in order to see what improvements in need, right? I have had one peer request but it got me nowhere as no one said anything about. Well, I might give it a second try then. Dimitris  talk 19:43, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In theory, you don't really need a peer review to see what else is required. If you check out the assessment page for Project Eurovision, you'll find an overview of each quality classification - to give a rough idea what to be aiming for. Also there's the criteria section that gives more in-depth advice on what is required to achieve each classification. And finally there is the FAQs on quality criteria, which may provide further answers. It took me a while to grasp the criterion for each, but over time I got use to them and can now assess quality from stub to C without having to cross-reference the criteria guides. If you wish top have a go at assessment yourself, then cross-check any article against the criteria for any of the quality ratings (with exception to A, GA, and FA - which require expert assessment). And once you feel an article satisfies all the requirements, then you've found the quality scale to award the article. Wes Mᴥuse 20:16, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Macedonian opinion poll[edit]

Dimitris,

You made this edit earlier today, and added a contentious piece about Macedonia, which is being discussed at Talk:Eurovision Song Contest 2015#Macedonian opinion poll. The reason the article itself has been placed on pending changes protection level, is because of that very piece and the edit warring it caused between editor's yesterday. The 'other countries' section is not to make reference to opinion polls. Wes Mᴥuse 12:24, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah sorry. I haven't noticed it (again). I should check the Talk page more often. I just figured out that since the poll is probably going to "count" for MRT whether they should participate or not. Dimitris  talk 15:10, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

But I'm pretty sure I had added it in the "Heroes" article, in the X Factor version section. Someone must have removed it. Will add it back again.
Edit: The photo is there but it seems like someone had removed the whole section, I guess that's why it wasn't used for that time. Luckily someone reverted the edit. Dimitris  talk 06:54, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Image positioning[edit]

I've had to revert the edit you made at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in which you repositioned the image so that it was directly under the "Graphic design" sub-header. This caused disruption of text flow between the sub-header and the rest of the sub-section's prose - which per WP:IMGLOC is to be avoided. This was why I positioned the image directly following the main section title "format", so that image itself was not being "clamped" in-between the sub-header and the prose. Cyprus Eurovision 2015[edit]

Eurofan, I'm not overly convinced this edit should even have been done. There is nothing in sources that verify there will be placings announced for the EuroChallenges. So adding such information would be seen as speculative based on the fact there is nothing to verify; other than sources which state who qualified. Also assuming that there will be placings and adding such information would constitute original research - because again we cannot verify that songs finished 1-10 and 11-20 in EuroChallenge 1, and 1-6 and 7-10 in the second EuroChallenge. Unless there are sources to back up that results for both of those rounds will be published at a later date, then I would suggest avoiding speculative original research. Wes Mouse | T@lk 19:52, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I know there is no source, but I was watching the national selection and I know that they voted and in order to advance, they were placed according their score. They didn't just select the ten/six who would advance to the next stage. I know there is no source for that, but as a native speaker of Greek I could understand what was going on during the selection. Dimitris  talk 20:03, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And that is just going off the fact that you have seen it. Others who are non-Greek speakers or who have not seen the shows will not know or be able to verify these facts. It is best to wait for the official announcement (if one becomes published at a later date) and then add the information to avoid original research that as of yet is only known by yourself and not verified on published sources. The fact I have now challenged it twice proves that I have been unable to verify the content you wrote. Wes Mouse | T@lk 20:13, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As the policy WP:V states, "in Wikipedia, verifiability means that people reading and editing the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of its editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. When reliable sources disagree, present what the various sources say, give each side its due weight, and maintain a neutral point of view.". The way you changed the content only goes off your belief, and cannot be checked and verified by sources; as none have been published yet to show what is added is truth. Wes Mouse | T@lk 20:19, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the only source I could provide is this. I don't know if it's enough. Dimitris  talk 20:20, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That would work to add cited evidence in the prose section above the EuroChallenge 1 results table - then we would be able to add insight into the voting system being used. Although we would need a similar source for EuroChallenge 2 that cites explicitly about the second round. Also I'll let you know now of a debate that is taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Issues with a source. ESCKaz have been banned as a source by the project, due to them using content we have written and then claiming it to be their own; and now threatening legal action, despite being told they have plagiarised Wikipedia. Wes Mouse | T@lk 20:26, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've just removed the entire undue weight content that you added to Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Stick to the main basic facts, there is no need to elaborate into how the show was opened, and the specialist performances throughout it - goes against the spirit of WP:PLOT; plus it is something that has never been done in the past all other country by year articles. Just mention about what the final is about, the voting procedure, and of course the eventual winner. Wes Mouse | T@lk 21:22, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

But in the Switzerland it says that they performed a cover of some songs (Shake It Off, Chandelier etc.). Dimitris  talk 21:24, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That is under a different circumstance, as it explains that the final was in two part - of which the finalists performed their Eurovision entry as well as another song; all as part of the contest itself. In regards to Cyprus, the participants have only performed their Eurovision entry. The way you wrote the other content made it read as running blog commentary of the entire show, and we are not here to provide that service. We have to make sure everything written is in an encyclopaedic manner and context. Wes Mouse | T@lk 21:31, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Can I just include the opening and the medleys they performed with the juries then? Dimitris  talk 21:34, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Do those medley performances bear any impact on the result of the finalists? If not, then no they should not be included. If yes, then keep it brief, and sourced for verification. The two performances from the Swiss final did bear an impact upon the vote, and that's why the second performances have been mentioned but in a brief prose, whilst their main Eurovision entries are listed in table format. Perhaps checking Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, which went through a similar process as this year's Cypriot final may provide some inspiration how the Cyprus article could be improved - including an elimination chart that would provide quick summary of all the heats, eurochallenges, and final. Translation attribution and copyrights[edit]

Eurofan2005,

When you made this edit back in May 2014, you didn't happen to have done a copied translation from the Greek article for the same singer? There is a reason I am asking this, as if you did translate it, then we need to attributed to the editor who wrote the original wording from Greek Wikiepdia, per Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. To do this we add the {{Translated page}} on the article talk page, and correct identify that you did not write the original wording, but translated it from Greek to English. Wes Mouse | T@lk 01:13, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, I actually wrote the English one first, you can even see that it was created first: I created it after she won The Voice (which was in May 2014) and also used the text I wrote in this article while the Greek one was created in February 2015. But I think whoever did this, has done it before because I noticed that the Greek article for Ivi Adamou is somehow the same with the English one, just not always updated. Dimitris  talk 11:50, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh that is good then. I just wanted to double-check just in case any copyright. My Greek is a bit rusty, so it may be worthwhile to inform someone at Greek Wikipedia that they to show on their article's talk page that they copied your work from English Wikipedia, and attributed it accordingly. Wes Mouse | T@lk 13:51, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Black Smoke sample[edit]

The file File:Black Smoke sample.ogg which you uploaded is too long and goes against the guidelines set at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Music samples#What is the maximum length permitted?. The maximum length should be 18 seconds, and not the 27 seconds which you uploaded. A 27 second sample should only be used on tracks that are 4 minutes and 30 seconds in length. You will need to upload a new version at its correct 18s length. Wes Mouse | T@lk 04:55, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I did not know about that, I always thought it was the same for all the songs. But now it kinda makes sense to have shorter samples for shorter songs. Will replace it very soon. Dimitris  talk 11:52, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Lilit Hovhannisyan[edit]

The article Lilit Hovhannisyan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability (chart success, albums). Fails WP:MUSIC - came fourth in a singing contest.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. WikiProject Eurovision: Important Announcement[edit]

WikiProject Eurovision
Important Announcement

Dear Project Member

Following a project community discussion, which was raised over the use of English translation columns on annual contest articles, and advice from the lead coordinator of The Guild of Copy Editors, who are extremely knowledgeable in regards to all editing practises and manual of style policies. A consensus decision has been reached to fully remove ALL English translations, as such content falls under the prohibition on original research, even if it seems helpful to the reader. This is because we have now to assume that every reader has access to automated translation tools that can always give them a sense of the meaning of the title in their native language; it is not Wikipedia's job to provide those tools for the reader. Which therefore means we are no longer to include an English translation column, nor are we to provide translation by any other means on contest articles.

Such information is currently in the process of being removed, and a new table formatting and layout style is being rolled out across all articles. Please view the new guidance on table layout at Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Format and Guides#Article layout. An example of the new table layout style can also be access via the collapsed section within this message. Thank you.

greek charts[edit]

Hi, as you work on Greek wikipedia I just wanted to ask if you might know how relevant is this chart (http://music-plus.gr/charts/charts_category-greece-int/chart_greece-int-airplayweek-41-2016-09-15-oct/), is it considered official or at least could be used on Wikipedia as one of the additional charts, or is it completely unreliable? ArturSik (talk) 13:20, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, it's based on radio plays and it's not based on all radio stations in Greece. I don't know how relevant this can be considered. Dimitris  talk 06:28, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 06:02, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Maltese models requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please don't add Hot 100 placements without an extra source before the archive updates[edit]

As you did at No Tears Left to Cry. As you can see, the link generated by the single chart template, https://www.billboard.com/music/ariana-grande/chart-history/hot-100, has not updated with the peak for the song. In future, it will not have updated by this time, so you will need to provide an extra source to where you got the peak from, as I have done (elsewhere on Billboard's website), otherwise this is unsourced.
