PRODs

[edit]

Hello, Let'srun,

You have a lot of experience with Wikipedia's deletion processes so I was surprised to see a PROD deletion nomination from you that stated Subject does not appear to meet the GNG. This is not a compelling reason for deleting an article, "does not appear" isn't certain and is iffy. I realize that you can't do an exhaustive search for sources for every article you tag but in the future, please offer strong policy-based reasons why an article should be deleted that avoids qualifying statements like "appears to be" or "seems like". I mean, if you're not certain an article should be deleted then why should a reviewing admin agree?

But I point this one out to you because it was the exception, not the rule for your PROD nominations which are usually just fine. Thank you for all of your contributions to the project. Liz Read! Talk! 21:35, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Athletics at the 1912 Summer Olympics – Men's team cross country

[edit]

I previously removed the linking at Athletics at the 1912 Summer Olympics – Men's team cross country to all articles we do not currently have since it had been determined that competitors at the Olympic games are not default notable, so there is no reason to supposed we would automatically create these articles on people who are not clearly notable. An editor came along and reverted these edits with the explanation "keep links red". I really do not think we should have such links, it gives the false impression that Olympic competitors are default notable, and lots of redlinks in some cases lead to false links. I do not want to get in an edit war, so I am just letting you know. I do not think this massive amount of red links on people we are unlikely to ever have articles on is useful.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:20, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While I don't disagree with your viewpoint, I would address your concerns specifically with that editor. Let'srun (talk) 23:58, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
