Welcome[edit]

Hi, SunnyBoi,

Welcome to WikiProject Women! ...and to editing Wikipedia, too. I read Wear it Purple Day and your work is impressive-- good detail and thorough coverage.

I began editing after I retired a few years ago, and find it a good way to learn about new topics. I, too, like writing women's biographies, so we have that in common. Have you had a chance to attend any edit-a-thons to meet Wikipedians in person? The reason I ask is very often there will be a list of articles you can create on notable people. I helped organize one last year for an "Art & Feminism Edit-a-thon" at the University of Oregon, and I have a list of draft biographies that still need to be written, listed on my user page, here.

You would be welcome to research and write on any of these draft biographies. I've whittled it down over the last 18 months, but any draft not touched within 6 months is considered "abandoned" and is subject to deletion. So if any of these appeal to you, be BOLD and work on the draft. I'm happy to review and move to article space when you are ready!

Cheers! Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 04:58, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your work so far on Betsy Wolfston! Let me know when you are ready for main article space. Cheers! — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 15:59, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Grand'mere Eugene, thank you for inviting me to contribute to the drafts! I was wondering what you'd suggest as the best example of an artist biography listing? I have found that the advice for chronological listing of exhibitions/awards seems to vary? Thanks in advance for your advice! Best wishes, S SunnyBoi (talk) 04:22, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so glad you are interested in developing quality articles. There's a listing of "Featured" and "Good" biographies of women artists at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women artists/Recognized content. See Constance Stokes, for example. All the articles on those lists have undergone peer review for accuracy and the quality of writing. (See the review, here.) You'll find links to the reviews of any of the "Featured" or "Good" articles on their Talk pages. "Featured articles are deemed of high enough quality to be on the Main Page for a day, with these criteria in mind. You'll see there is not specific advice on chronological listing of exhibitions/awards, but rather an emphasis on interesting, comprehensive material and appropriate summary style.
You can view the criteria for article quality on this page if you scroll down to the multicolored section "articles" below the "How you can help" section. Click on any of the quality links to see the scoring criteria. Some editors subscribe to the idea that it's better to start with a "stub" article and let the community of editors contribute, but I prefer more developed articles, preferably "C" or "B" rated pieces before I publish to the main space. Stubs are okay, but more likely to be deleted, especially if there are not multiple reliable sources cited.
Don't be too concerned about "filling in" the headings on the drafts that were created for our "Art & Feminism" event-- if the material you find in your research lends itself to a chronological listing, fine. But if the exhibitions/awards are not part of the subject's story, feel free to delete those subheadings, as they were meant as suggestions to help new editors at the event to begin looking for supporting research. My own preference is away from chronological bullet lists, in favor of sentences an paragraphs, organized in a way that makes sense, even if it's not chronological. All the best, — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 07:46, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello David.moreno72, thanks for updating me about the Draft:Julie Gough (disambiguation). From the disambiguation style guide, it says that red links may be used if it's likely that there is an article to be created in the future. I believe that the Bristol designer would be a likely future page candidate, given the publicity of her publications on women's suffrage. Would it be considered permissible if I red-linked her name, but left the others unlinked? I believe there is possibility for confusion as the other artist (also UK-based), could be confusing in the future, as the Indigenous artist has shown work in England. Thank you for your time. SunnyBoi (talk)5 March 2018 SunnyBoi (talk) 12:01, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi SunnyBoi. I helped to write the disambiguation style guide that you are referring to, and unfortunately your interpretation is incomplete. It states that 'A link to a non-existent article (a "red link") should only be included on a disambiguation page when a linked article (not just other disambiguation pages) also includes that red link.' That is, there must ALWAYS be a blue link in the entry, no exceptions. If the entry title is red, then the blue linked article (of which there MUST be one), MUST mention the entry title. See the 'Flibbygibby' example. Thank you David.moreno72 12:20, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dont defame me![edit]

Dont defame by calling me transphobic! I never said anything transphobic! Defaming is against wiki rules! and also the law! I never denied he is not legally female (he is legally female) I never said he should not be legally female! The point is about what is required for IOC and Commonwealth competition as a female. Ill give you a hint ITS NOT BEING LEGALLY FEMALE!--DaraOBrien (talk) 05:04, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback, Dara. I'm unsure of the best way to respond, I will do my best. From my perspective, your edits and talk page comments seemed specifically unsupportive of the LGBTIAQ+ community. I can accept that you don't identify as transphobic - it is challenging when people are labelled in a way which doesn't align with their personal truth. I'd like to highlight that in your comments on my talkpage about this weightlifting athlete, you have chosen to use the wrong pronouns in an antagonistic way. I also noticed that your comments on ChamithN (talk) talkpage were rather inflammatory. I understand that you are frustrated with aspects of MSM, and I hope that you can have a better experience on Wikipedia soon. SunnyBoi (talk) 14:29, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for June 23[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mazie Turner, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page University of Newcastle (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 22:05, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:EcoStone[edit]

Hello, SunnyBoi. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "EcoStone".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Lapablo (talk) 10:07, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Kristen Ashley[edit]

Draft:Kristen_Ashley just wondering why you removed the Bibliography section from this article? your comment said “extra bibliography“. there is only one... thanks --Azurerae (talk) 18:22, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Azurerae, when I made that edit, there was a Bibliography heading above the References, which only contained a red link. Was it relating to the list after the References? Feel free to rollback if that wasn't the intention. SunnyBoi (talk) 13:56, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi SunnyBoi, Yeah, there is a Bibliography waiting in the wings once the article is published. I'll roll it back. Thanks! --Azurerae (talk) 22:10, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2019 election voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:21, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
