Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Yoramr, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited was User:Yoramr/sandbox, which appears to be an article about yourself. Writing about yourself is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians.

As this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them. A page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to or change it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Thanks much for your input. This is indeed a page about me but I assume it is similar to other scientists/researchers including some of my colleagues. I do have an existing page in Hebrew "יורם רייך". Yoramr (talk) 19:32, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Yoramr! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Yoram Reich and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. twisted. (user | talk | contribs) 14:55, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your information. Being a novice I marked it wrongly. I'll familiarize myself with the definitions. Yoramr (talk) 17:50, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Yoramr. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Yoram Reich, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 17:45, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for this information. I thought I was clear about the COI when I wrote this entry. This article is basically a translation with updated information from an article in Hebrew Wikipedia that I did not write originally.
The information on the page is quite basic, mostly backed by references. Should somebody else do the edits? Yoramr (talk) 17:55, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think it'd be best to abstain from editing about yourself; if you do, such edits should be minor stuff. If you want major changes made, it's usually best to ask another editor. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 18:46, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I'll follow your advice. Yoramr (talk) 19:00, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
