Права человека в Камеруне закреплены в Конституции. Однако в Докладе о правах человека Государственного департамента США за 2009 год отмечена озабоченность по поводу нарушений на выборах, пыток силами безопасности и произвольных арестов[1].

Ситуация[править | править код]

В отчете британской благотворительной организации «Свобода от пыток» за 2002 год говорится, что «распространенность пыток в Камеруне настолько высока, что требует посещения страны Специальным докладчиком Организации Объединенных Наций по пыткам в 1999 году. Он охарактеризовал применение пыток в Камеруне как« широко распространенное и широко распространенное явление ». систематический »'"[2].

В своем Ежегодном обзоре за 2012 год организация «Свобода от пыток» сообщила, что они получили 33 направления переживших пытки из Камеруна для получения клинического лечения или других услуг[3].

Amnesty International сообщила об опасениях по поводу насилия со стороны сил безопасности. В 2009 году около 100 мирных жителей были убиты во время демонстраций[4].

В апреле 2010 года Жермен Сирил Нгота Нгота, редактор «Камерун Экспресс», скончался в заключении в центральной тюрьме Конденги[5]. В феврале 2010 года он был заключен в тюрьму в ожидании суда вместе с редакторами двух других газет за предполагаемую «совместную подделку» подписи официального лица президента. Один из редакторов сказал, что рассматриваемый документ был просто прикреплен к запросу об интервью, в то время как журналист, создавший документ, скрывается[6]. «Федерация африканских журналистов после посещения страны в мае 2010 года назвала Камерун« одним из самых жестоких тюремщиков журналистов в Африке »»[5][7].
