Independence Day (Nigeria) - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Independence Day is a special day on 1 October every year. On that day, the government and people of Nigeria celebrate the country's independence from Britain in 1960. From 1901 to 1960, the United Kingdom ruled Nigeria. By 1960 the people wanted independence, and Britain finally let them have it.
